Hard times in Haiti mean many risk lives at sea
When Alix Charles slipped out of his tin-roofed shack at night, he didn’t say where he was going, only that he would be back soon.
Losing It
My kids are almost always warned when I am about to lose it.
That is about all that they get for grace from me some days. They often warn each other too … "Remember … shhhhh- don’t fight with me … Mom said she does not have patience for this today!"I just asked Hope, "Do I lose my temper a lot?" She said – "Only a tiny bit every single day."Ha. Nice.

Walking past St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on June Street, the average person would not imagine any connection to poverty or global instability.
Haiti and Honduras : Considering Two ‘Coups d’Etat’
The same United Nations that now condemns the coup in Honduras and demands Zelaya’s return occupied Haiti militarily during the coup government of Gerard Latortue, often attacking Haitians demonstrating for Aristide’s return, and occupies it still.
Haitian-American caucus welcomes all
As co-chair of the United Haitian-American Caucus, and on behalf of its executive board, I sincerely thank the numerous Rockland County residents who took time to attend our open house event at the Town of Ramapo Skills Training Center, Youth Center, and Community Center on Independence Day.
A week in Haiti – Part I
Part I I didn’t keep a journal during my first trip to Haiti. Although I generally keep a journal when I’m traveling, I was too involved with the work and perhaps a bit overwhelmed.
